The blogs I have written so far have focused on education articles that have been produced by Nimue. This time however, I wanted to write more about my own personal skincare journey, and my experiences with Nimue.

I was first introduced to Nimue products around 6 years ago when I joined the salon and these products were already in use, and I subsequently began using them on clients. It wasn’t until some time later that I was questioned by my Nimue Business Manager as to why I wasn’t using the products on my own skin. The argument being that how can I promote the benefits of these products to my clients if I’ve never tried them myself?

The truth was, I hadn’t seriously considered using them myself, because I was slightly scared to do so! My skin, at that time, was very sensitised and the area of my cheeks, either side of my nose, the end of my nose itself, my chin and often my forehead too, was very red and inflamed looking. I was using over-the-counter products at the time, albeit, what I considered to be high end, over-the-counter products, and although my skin wasn’t great, I felt that I had seen a slight improvement in the redness and wasn’t very keen on trying other products as I was worried that my skin would take a turn for the worse, if I switched to another skincare brand.

On reflection of course, I knew that my Business Manager was right, and I couldn’t possibly recommend products I wasn’t using myself, so I took the bull by the horns and started using Nimue on my own skin.

That was probably around 5 years ago now, and I can honestly say I haven’t looked back! My only regret is that I didn’t give these products a try much sooner. Gone are the days of hiding my skin under thick foundation and being highly embarrassed about being seen without make-up – even by family.

I still experience redness to my skin but only usually when I wash it and the pressure from doing so will leave my skin slightly red looking. This always disappears within a minute or two though and is nothing like the redness I experienced before.

My skin is now much clearer and the skin tone is more even. I recently transitioned onto what Nimue call their Phase 2 products. I hadn’t used this additional product previously, as I thought my skin was probably the best it would ever be, but following in the same vein as before, in wanting to try the products that I recommend, I thought I would try Phase 2 and I am so pleased that I did! My skin tone is more even and my pore size has reduced and I am really pleased with the results.

I am 47 now, and of course one expects one’s skin to deteriorate as we age – fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, maybe even some pigmentation, but I can honestly say that my skin looks better now than it did in my 30’s – and it’s all thanks to Nimue!

I’ve tried really had to find some before and after type pictures that I can use to show you what my skin looked like before and what it looks like now. To be perfectly honest, I have really struggled with this! Mostly because I am usually loathe to have my photograph taken and one major factor in this has always been the condition of my skin. Also, to find pictures of me without make up on is even rarer still. So I apologies for the images below, there wasn’t a huge selection to choose from, but I am really hoping you can see as much of a difference in my skin between these two pictures as I can!

Sorry I look so miserable in both pictures, but as I said, I’m not the best at having my photo taken! You can see by my haircuts that there is quite a time between these pictures, approximately 4 years. That doesn’t mean that it has taken me 4 years to get from the before to the after picture, it just means there were no pictures of me make up free between these two! In fact, the after picture I had to take especially for the purposes of writing this blog! Had I known 4 years ago that I would need before and after pictures I would have (begrudgingly) taken more a few weeks apart, but unfortunately I appear to have lost my crystal ball so I am unable to see into the future! ?

To conclude, I just wanted to demonstrate what Nimue has done for me and show you my own skin journey. If Nimue can do this for me, just think what they can do for you!
