Face masks and your skin

Is wearing a face mask affecting your skin?

The wearing of face masks is now compulsory in many settings, and it looks like this will not change anytime soon.  For many, the wearing of a face mask poses no problems, but for others it can be quite irritating, not just to the wearer themselves, but also to the wearers skin.

Did you know that the prolonged wearing of a face mask can cause many issues for your skin, such as acne caused by the friction, dryness, sensitised skin, pigmentation changes and even bruising.

We have used Nimue facial products in the Clinic for many years now, as their product offering really does do what it claims. Nimue Skin Technology is a dermacosmoceutical brand, launched in 1994, by leading Skincare scientists aimed at the medical market for pre- and post- operative application. Since then, Nimue has evolved into a recognised professional skincare brand distributed globally, renowned for an expert understanding of the skin, innovative formulations, cutting edge technology and effective combination, concentration and strength of active ingredients.

Having worked with, and used Nimue products for many years now, I really do trust what they say. Regarding the wearing of face masks, they have recently produced an really interesting and informative article about all the different issues that face masks can cause. As this is a Nimue written article, there are references here to the products they supply that can help overcome these issues. My aim of writing this blog is to educate readers on what issues face masks can cause, not to necessarily sell products, however any of these products can be purchased from us, should you so wish.

I have reproduced their article below for your reference. If you have any questions, or want to ask anything about your skin or the products available, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Happy reading everyone, regards, Ronnie
